Dr. Glasser has had special interest in playgrounds for many years. She has overseen the building of playgrounds from the initial planning and proposal stages through to completion including playground equipment options, signage, surfacing, design, proximity issues and containment as well as working with playground manufacturers, playground construction companies and with the various community groups often involved with a playground project. She is familiar with the playground safety guidelines of the Consumer Product Safety Commission and has conducted many classes in and about playgrounds identifying both positive and negative features typical in many of today’s playgrounds and parks.
She had the opportunity to study playgrounds with one of the foremost playground experts in the country, Dr. Frances Wallach, president of Total Recreation Management Services, Inc. and former president of the Playground Safety Association. They visited playgrounds in the northeast observing the way children play on playgrounds and the related parental supervision.
